his is a tool that helps discover and manage DHCP servers in a network.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol or DHCP is a protocol that helps IT administrators manage and automate the assignment of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses centrally. There is often a given time for which an IP address is assigned (leased) to a computer on the network. The administrators then need to track addresses assigned at any time so that when it comes time to re-assign addresses again later, you would know what resources can be used. Thus DHCP servers are a very important component of a large network. This software tool helps administrators discover what DHCP servers exist on the network. DHCP Explorer broadcasts on the local physical subnet to find available DHCP servers. Once that inventory is taken, you would immediately know if there are any servers that are not supposed to be there. It is often a ploy of hackers to use such rogue server to penetrate a network. This will be useful in checking the output of known servers too. This software product is part of the NS Audit set of tools from the developers addressed to security audit and compliance concerns of organizations.
This has a simple and easy to use interface. It is intuitive enough that most users should get familiar with it quite easily. Getting productive with it should not take much time. This tool will let the administrators set up a whole range of parameters. These include, beside address assignment parameters, assignment of various servers including time, name, log and other servers. This is a very good product. If you are looking for a similar solution, you should try it in your exact workflow.
